Specializations and Professional History

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Reston, I specialize in supporting children, families, and adults as they navigate some of life’s more challenging moments. I take pride in having a well-rounded practice that allows me to help individuals and families address a wide variety of concerns. My approach is rooted in a blend of therapeutic techniques, including Family Systems Theory, EMDR therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed care, all while embracing the healing power of humor. I believe in creating a safe, compassionate space for my clients, whether in-person or remotely, to explore and work through their difficulties, empowering them to create positive change in their lives.

I have almost a decade of experience working in the pediatric intensive care unit of a large university medical center. During my time spent in the hospital I worked with people of all ages who were struggling to cope with change, grief, loss, anxiety, fear, and trauma.

My Therapeutic Approach

My approach is deeply strengths-based and rooted in optimism. Even in the most challenging moments, I remain steadfast in holding onto hope for my clients, believing that together, we can find a path toward healing and growth. I firmly believe in meeting each client exactly where they are, working collaboratively to create a personalized plan that moves them forward in a meaningful way. I strive to be authentic in all of our interactions and feel truly honored by the trust my clients place in me, sharing their stories and experiences. To me, every individual’s journey is significant, and every story holds immense value.

Education and Qualifications

After earning my MSW, I worked in a number of departments at VCU Medical Center before landing in the PICU.

I shifted from hospital work to a life in the Foreign Service, spending six transformative years living in both East and West Africa

I earned my Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and also have a professional certificate in Early Intervention. I’m a Certified Trauma Specialist in Virginia, and in 2021, I completed my EMDR Therapy training to deepen my ability to help clients through trauma. I’m licensed to offer both in-person and telehealth counseling services across Virginia, making it easier to work together no matter where you are..
